Looking for a special gift for a special person but haven't been able to find what you want? Do you want a quilt of your own to snuggle under during cold winter nights? Talk with me and I can create a custom quilt to fit your needs!
As my client, you and I would work closely together to make your perfect quilt. First we would need to choose the quilt pattern. Does the recipient have a favorite hobby? Do they like a particular home decorating theme? Based on the recipient's likes, we can find the perfect pattern for your quilt. I have a large collection of patterns to choose from, any of them can be modified to meet your needs. Or I can make a new quilt design just for you.
Once we have settled on a pattern, it is time to pick your colors. A good place to start is by thinking of the recipient's favorite color(s). Your color choices will give me a starting point from which I can design the color layout of your quilt. I may add a color or two to make the quilt top balanced, but I will always verify and approve any and all color choices with you before proceeding. This is, after all, your quilt and it should look the way you want it to.
After we decide on a pattern and colors, I’ll price out the materials and labor and will prepare a quote for your project. If the quote is acceptable to you, we move ahead and I begin making your quilt. It generally takes 1-2 months for a commission quilt to be made, but this can vary depending on the complexity and the size of the quilt you want made. Smaller quilts may be finished sooner, larger quilts may take much longer.
SPECIAL NOTE: When shopping for fabric, I will find the best match to the colors used in the computer generated design, but understand that the available fabrics are always changing and what is used in the quilt design software is not what I will be buying.
Costs include:
- Materials (fabric, thread, batting)
- Hourly labor fee ($30/hour) for assembly and finishing
- Quilting fee
- Shipping costs, if applicable
Payment schedule:
- 50% of the project estimate is due within 2 weeks of your final approval of the project design and cost quote. This will hold your spot on my calendar, and with this deposit I will purhcase all required materials for your quilt.
- The balance of the final project cost is due once the quilt has been completely finished. If you are local, this is due when I deliver the quilt to you. If you are not local, this is due when I email you photos of the finished quilt (one photo of the whole quilt, and several detailed close-up photos). I will ship your quilt to you once I've received the final payment.
For payment, I accept cash, personal checks, bank drawn checks or money orders. I also accept credit card and debit card payments through PayPal.
