Spring Nickel Mystery
Using 9 of your light nickels, cut each of them in half. This will yield 18 light strips 5" x 2½".
Using 9 of your dark nickels, cut each of them in half. This will yield 18 dark strips 5" x 2½".
Pair together one of your light and one of your dark strips, sew along one long side. Press the seam
towards the dark fabric. Your pressed piece will look like this. Make 18 units.
Cut each strip set in half, yielding two light/dark units as shown. This will yield 36 light/dark units.
Pair together two light/dark units and sew along one long side. Press the seam to one side. This will
yield 18 four-patch units as shown.
