Clue #2


Select 12 of your light nickels and trim ½" off one side of each of them, so they measure 4½" x 5". Then cut each of them in half, to yield 24 light strips 4½" x 2½".

Select 12 of your dark nickels, and cut each of them in quarters. This will yield 48 dark squares 2½" x 2½".

Line up one dark square with the end of one light strip, right sides together. Sew a diagonal across the dark square as shown, you can draw the diagonal line with a pencil first if you like. Repeat for all light strips, this will yield 24 units.

Trim off excess material and press seam as shown. Repeat for all units sewn in the last step.

Line up one dark square with the other end of one light strip. Sew a diagonal across the dark square as shown, and again you can draw a diagonal line with a pencil first if you like. Repeat for all units sewn in the last step.

Trim off excess material and press seam as shown. Repeat for all units sewn in the last step. This will yield 24 flying geese units measuring 4½" x 2½".
