From your black fabric, cut 8 pieces 1½" x 1½".

From your cream fabrics, cut the following:

From your red, green, and various novelty fabrics, cut the following:

To each of the 6½" x 2½" red, green, and novelty pieces, place a cream square face down on one end so the right sides are together. Sew along the drawn line, trim off the excess, and press towards the cream fabric.

To each of the units made in the last step, place a cream square face on the other end so the right sides are together. Sew along the drawn line, trim off the excess, and press towards the cream fabric.

Match up the paired novelty/cream units with one of the 8 6½" x 1½" pieces cut. Sew one of the novelty/cream pieces to either side of the 6½" x 1½" piece, pressing towards the center piece. You will have 8 units in varying fabrics that look like this when you finish this clue.

Sew together two cream 1½" x 3" pieces and one black 1½" x 1½" piece as shown. Repeat for all pieces, you will have 8 units after you finish this step.

Pair together one of each type of unit made in this clue to yield a finished Ornament block. You will make a total of 8 Ornament blocks (6" finished).

Using the remaining 32 cream 2½" x 2½" you cut at the beginning of this clue, place one over the corner of one of your red/white pinwheel blocks and sew on the diagonal line. Trim off the excess and press towards the cream triangle. Repeat for all remaining corners on all remaining pinwheel blocks. When you're finished, you will have 8 Peppermint Candy blocks (6" finished).
