Clue #4

Pair up two of your pink and/or white 2" x 12½" fabrics you cut in Clue #3 and sew them together along a long side as shown. Repeat for all remaining 2" x 12½" strips. You will have 4 strip pairs when finished.

Sew one of these strip pairs to one of the Double Flying Geese units from Clue #3 as shown. Repeat for all remaining strip pairs and Double Flying Geese units. You will have 4 new units when finished.

Sew one of the units from the last step to one of the Large Flying Geese units from Clue #3 as shown. Repeat for all remaining Large Flying Geese units and the units from the last step. You will have 4 Strip Heart blocks when finished.

Sew the 4 Strip Heart blocks together as shown, alternating the direction of each heart. You've just created the center of your table runner.

Sew one of the 1½" x 12½" pink strips you cut in Clue #3 to each end of the table runner; press the seam towards the strips. Then sew one of the 1½" x 50½" pink strips you cut in Clue #3 to the top and one to the bottom of the table runner; press the seam towards the strips. Your inner border is now complete.

Sew one of the 3½" x 50½" red border strips you cut in Clue #2 to the top of the table runner, and the other to the bottom of the table runner. Press seam towards the border strips. Sew one of the 3½" x 3½" cream squares you cut in Clue #1 to each end of each 3½" x 14½" red border strips you cut in Clue #2; press the seam towards the red fabric. Sew one of these units on each end of your table runner. Voila, your table runner top is finished! It will measure 56" x 20".

Here's a picture of Arlene's table runner, she tested my pattern for me. I love the appliqué hearts she put in the border's corner squares!

Piece your backing fabric as needed, layer your backing, batting, and top together and quilt as desired. Use the remaining cream fabric for your binding.

I hope you enjoyed this quick mystery! Thanks for playing with me. :)
