What is a CoolSeat?

A Cool Seat is a variation on the cool suit concept. In this case, the cooling system is not a garment worn by the driver, instead it is a seat insert that remains in the race car. This makes for faster driver changes as there is one less component to disconnect from the exiting driver and reconnect to the new driver. Another added benefit: the driver no longer has cooling hoses hanging out of their fire suit, reducing the risk of damage to the cooling system!

Just like a cool suit setup, the hoses for the CoolSeat will connect to your cooling system with quick disconnect water fittings. I have made CoolSeats that can connect to a simple ice water reservoir with pump, and to a ChillOut system using fittings direct from ChillOut to ensure a proper fit. If you have a different system, I will work to find fittings that will allow your CoolSeat to connect directly in place of your cool suit garments.

Below are photos of a CoolSeat installed in a race car's driver seat. As you can see it is very unobtrusive. It lines the driver seat nicely and is filled with 1/4" OD tube that allows chilled water to circulate through the insert and back to the cooling unit. This size of tube allows for good water flow while reducing the impact to the driver's seating position. Since it is connected to the cooling unit with quick disconnect water fittings, you can remove it from the car and drain water from it after the race weekend is over.

Here are photos of additional CoolSeats I made. The first CoolSeat was made for a brand new ice water cooler setup, so I included both halves of the quick disconnect fittings. My client was able to install the other halves on the tubes running from their ice water cooler.

The second CoolSeat was made to interface with my client's ChillOut system. I bought the quick disconnect fittings directly from ChillOut to ensure a proper fit, and used a reducer fitting to transition from the larger hose used by ChillOut to the 1/4" OD hose used in the CoolSeat. My client states that the Cool Seat works fantastically well with his ChillOut system!

How do I order a CoolSeat?

Every CoolSeat is custom made, as every combination of seat and cooling system is unique. Go to the order form where you can specify all the details for your setup. I will contact you after I receive your order to verify the details, perhaps request photos of your setup, get information if you have a new cooling setup that I haven't worked with yet, and so on.

After we have agreed to the details of your CoolSeat, I will send you a Venmo invoice for a 50% deposit to get started on your CoolSeat. The balance will be due once the Cool Seat is finished. (Pricing is noted on the Order Form.)

There should not be any fitment issues with your CoolSeat, however if there are, I will make it right for you. I stand behind my work and will correct any issues to get it to fit correctly.
